Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cellular modem firmware covering control flows, scheduling, RF control, state machines, SDR, 5G NR, LTE, multi-RAT operation, and emerging 6G technologies.
  • Develop and optimize latency-sensitive real-time firmware under memory, performance, timing, and power constraints.
  • Translate system-level and 3GPP requirements into firmware architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Work with modem systems, PHY, RF, and hardware teams to define and integrate end-to-end solutions.
  • Debug and perform root-cause analysis of complex firmware, hardware, RF, and system interactions.
  • Lead and coordinate the technical work of a small engineering group through planning, guidance, mentoring, and execution follow-up.
  • Drive features through architecture, implementation, bring-up, integration, validation, and commercialization.
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and complex technical problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent higher degree.
  • At least 5 years of embedded systems or firmware development experience; the posting also lists alternate minimum qualifications of 4 years with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or 2 years with a PhD.
  • Strong C programming skills and understanding of real-time embedded systems, including interrupts, concurrency, synchronization, memory, cache behavior, and low-level control logic.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate system requirements into firmware architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Proven debugging and root-cause analysis skills across complex hardware/software systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance of engineers while remaining hands-on.
  • Preferred qualifications include cellular modem firmware, DSP/MCU or heterogeneous SoC architectures, modem-to-RF control, scheduler or control-plane design, 3GPP specifications, hardware interaction, semiconductor or silicon bring-up, and lab debugging equipment experience.
