Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and development of scalable, production-grade backend services and APIs.
- Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns across the organization.
- Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor engineers at all levels.
- Drive infrastructure evolution for reliability, performance, scalability, observability, fault tolerance, and security.
- Partner with product, design, executive leadership, and other cross-functional stakeholders to turn business objectives into technical strategy.
- Support deployment and operations through CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure when applicable.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend development experience, including significant experience in senior, staff, or principal-level roles.
- Deep expertise in backend systems design and distributed systems, with experience owning complex production infrastructure.
- Experience building scalable backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch.
- Experience designing SaaS backend APIs covering multi-tenancy, authentication, versioning, and developer experience.
- Strong SQL proficiency and experience designing for security, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Experience setting technical direction at an organizational level.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior startup or mission-critical environment experience is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure such as AWS is a bonus.
