Responsibilities
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and participate in code reviews with mentorship from senior engineers.
- Design and develop composable infrastructure systems and developer productivity capabilities.
- Build, operate, and maintain Kubernetes-based platform services, developer self-service tooling, and CI/CD workflows.
- Automate remediation of recurring operational issues to improve platform stability and reliability.
- Provide production operational support in a you-build-it-you-run-it environment, including incident response.
- Apply infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, platform security, and hardening practices.
- Use authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation while validating their outputs.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and proficient applied experience.
- Hands-on software development, testing, and troubleshooting experience in a professional or project-based environment.
- Proficiency or a strong working foundation in one or more of Go, Java, or Kotlin.
- Working understanding of CI/CD pipelines, secure development practices, and agile methodologies.
- Foundational understanding of cloud and container technologies, including Kubernetes concepts.
- Eagerness to develop cloud-native platform engineering skills on Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.
- Hands-on experience with authorized AI-assisted software development tools and the ability to critically evaluate and validate generated outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Preferred: exposure to Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native tooling.
- Preferred: familiarity with infrastructure as code using Crossplane, Terraform, or equivalent frameworks.
- Preferred: awareness of or hands-on interest in GitOps workflows and the Kubernetes operator pattern.
- Preferred: experience contributing to developer platforms or internal tooling initiatives.
