Responsibilities

  • Evolve backend services supporting critical pricing, anomaly, and item-classification workflows.
  • Design synchronous and asynchronous contracts and flows between services, events, and data processes.
  • Address concurrency, latency, availability, consistency, scalability, cost, and failure-tolerance challenges in distributed systems.
  • Improve observability through metrics, logs, and alerts while participating in on-call rotations, incidents, and sensitive migrations.
  • Design unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and support gradual rollouts with multiple consumers.
  • Provide technical guidance through design and code reviews, documentation, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in backend development and operating distributed systems in production.
  • Ability to design APIs, event-oriented integrations, and persistence models while reasoning about concurrency, consistency, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, testing, observability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Demonstrated experience with generative AI tools.
  • Critical thinking and experience solving complex problems, evaluating trade-offs, and carrying solutions through to impact.
  • Strong learning and adaptation capabilities across domains, technologies, languages, and Marketplace and Shipping challenges.
  • Go is the predominant language; prior Go experience is valued, but engineering fundamentals, technical judgment, and learning ability are prioritized.
