Responsibilities

Align technical solutions with client strategic initiatives and business requirements.
Interface with customers and VP- and Director-level client stakeholders, including travel to client locations.
Design, develop, and evolve highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using big data technologies.
Develop and support enterprise applications, integrations, and data management solutions.
Guide developers in day-to-day design and coding tasks and contribute to hiring technical talent.
Define technical requirements and implement data extraction, transformation, job automation, and productionization workflows.
Design and implement APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns for distributed computing challenges.
Stay current with technology and provide hands-on technical leadership for customer and company initiatives.

8+ years of relevant work experience and a computer science or related technical degree.
Experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale applications, frameworks, and design patterns.
Proven experience building and shipping large-scale engineering products and working with complex datasets from varied sources.
Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, or a similar big data stack.
Experience with functional and object-oriented programming using Python or Scala.
Technical knowledge of Spark, Hadoop, and GCS; GCP or AWS cloud infrastructure experience is preferred.
Experience with database modeling and development, data mining, data warehousing, and Big Data solution delivery is preferred.
Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, MapReduce, Oozie, Hive, Impala, Kerberos, Kafka, and Spark, is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
