Responsibilities
- Align technical solutions with client strategic initiatives and business requirements.
- Interface with customers and VP- and Director-level client stakeholders, including travel to client locations.
- Design, develop, and evolve highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using big data technologies.
- Develop and support enterprise applications, integrations, and data management solutions.
- Guide developers in day-to-day design and coding tasks and contribute to hiring technical talent.
- Define technical requirements and implement data extraction, transformation, job automation, and productionization workflows.
- Design and implement APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns for distributed computing challenges.
- Stay current with technology and provide hands-on technical leadership for customer and company initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant work experience and a computer science or related technical degree.
- Experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale applications, frameworks, and design patterns.
- Proven experience building and shipping large-scale engineering products and working with complex datasets from varied sources.
- Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, or a similar big data stack.
- Experience with functional and object-oriented programming using Python or Scala.
- Technical knowledge of Spark, Hadoop, and GCS; GCP or AWS cloud infrastructure experience is preferred.
- Experience with database modeling and development, data mining, data warehousing, and Big Data solution delivery is preferred.
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, MapReduce, Oozie, Hive, Impala, Kerberos, Kafka, and Spark, is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
