Responsibilities
- Define and maintain embedded software architectures for software-defined combat air systems.
- Develop software integration strategies, technical roadmaps, and interface definitions.
- Support software governance and design authority activities.
- Define interfaces and service-based architectures using requirements-driven approaches.
- Collaborate with systems, safety, and cyber teams.
- Lead software technical decision-making and support customer and partner engagement.
- Mentor engineering teams and support capability development.
- Support the development, integration, and optimization of advanced sensing and mission-system architectures across the engineering lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or significant demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Experience developing software in complex engineering environments, preferably within aerospace or defence programmes.
- Experience with embedded software architecture, real-time embedded systems, software lifecycle management, and software integration strategies.
- Knowledge of service-oriented architectures, interface definition and management, requirements-driven architecture development, and technical leadership.
- Knowledge of OMS, MOSA, FACE standards, DDS middleware, mission systems architectures, software-defined capability frameworks, DevSecOps environments, containerisation technologies, MBSE integration, and digital engineering environments.
- Experience with AI-enabled and autonomous system architectures is required or relevant to the role.
- Right to work in the UK and eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Ability to satisfy customer security and export-control requirements and willingness to travel occasionally to customer and partner locations.
