Base Salary

$405k - $405k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own complex security risk problems from assessment through escalation, treatment decisions, and remediation with minimal oversight.
  • Build quantification tooling, automated intake and triage, observability, dashboards, and data pipelines for security risk management.
  • Partner with Security Engineering to pressure-test architectures, prioritize remediation roadmaps, and support investment decisions.
  • Conduct threat modeling and structured assessments, calibrate severity and likelihood, and communicate defensible recommendations to leadership.
  • Design AI-native risk tooling using Claude to classify risks, augment triage, and detect changes in the risk landscape.
  • Mentor engineers and risk practitioners and help establish a culture of distributed security-risk ownership.
  • Measure outcomes based on decisions made and risk reduced rather than activity completed.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of software engineering or security engineering experience, including independently leading and remediating complex security risks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or at least one systems language such as Go, Rust, or C/C++.
  • Broad knowledge across security domains including identity and secrets management, developer security and supply chain, infrastructure and cloud security, and secure frameworks, with depth in at least one.
  • Calibrated risk judgment and the ability to assess ambiguous problems, defend recommendations, and update positions as evidence changes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional security initiatives and navigating complex organizational dynamics.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts across organizational levels.
  • Track record of bringing clarity and ownership to ambiguous technical problems and driving them to resolution.
  • Experience growing engineers and supporting diverse, inclusive teams.
  • Passion for AI safety and trustworthy AI systems.
  • Preferred: ownership of security risks through remediation, executive risk briefings, security automation or risk platforms, LLM- or agent-powered security tooling, security/detection/offensive security experience, quantified risk programs, and familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP.
