Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, maintain, and tune enterprise WAF and DDoS protections across a large portfolio of properties.
- Develop custom firewall rules, bot mitigation controls, and DDoS mitigation policies.
- Analyze logs and traffic to identify malicious activity, false positives, and opportunities to improve defenses.
- Integrate WAF and edge security controls into applications and services with product, engineering, and operations teams.
- Advise technology teams and management on security risks, treatment options, standards, and solutions.
- Research emerging threats, attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and exploits affecting web and API applications.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, scripting, and automation efforts for security deployments.
- Serve as a WAF/DDoS incident-response escalation point and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Support Tentpole and product or feature launches in a WAF support role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of application or network security experience with direct hands-on WAF/DDoS work.
- Expertise with at least one major WAF platform, such as Akamai, Fastly NGWAF, AWS WAF, or Azure.
- Experience writing or modifying WAF rules, including AWS WAF, Azure, or Cloudflare custom rules.
- Experience with a major cloud provider SDK, such as BOTO3, Azure SDK, or GCP Client Libraries; AWS BOTO3 is preferred.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/S protocols, OWASP Top 10, and API security models.
- Proficiency with log analysis tools and scripting using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience securing applications across AWS, GCP, and Azure environments.
- Preferred experience includes CISSP, CISM, CISA, or SANS certifications; Terraform or CloudFormation; CDN integrations; API security frameworks; and large-scale DDoS mitigation.
