
Mobile Engineer II
Cox AutomotiveResponsibilities
- Build, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and enhance native mobile applications and assigned features.
- Collaborate with AI agents and coding assistants across the software development lifecycle and experiment with prompt engineering.
- Participate in technical design discussions, estimation, code reviews, documentation, and product collaboration.
- Develop unit and system tests, follow secure coding practices, and deliver maintainable, performant software.
- Use logs, metrics, dashboards, and monitoring tools to understand system health and diagnose production issues.
- Own assigned work through completion, communicate status and blockers, and contribute to shared team goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 2 years of experience in a related field, or a master’s degree with up to 2 years of experience, or 14 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated native mobile development experience with Android, Kotlin, and Jetpack Compose and/or iOS, Swift, and SwiftUI.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor across the software development lifecycle; Spec Driven Development experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, backend services such as Java and Spring Boot, authentication patterns, relational data models, and distributed-system integrations.
- Familiarity with modern mobile architecture patterns, platform development tools, testing frameworks, and performance optimization.
- Comfort with Git workflows, branching strategies, collaborative development, observability, logging, metrics, and monitoring tools such as New Relic.
- Ability to troubleshoot moderately complex issues with limited guidance and communicate technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
