Responsibilities

  • Lead a team owning physics architecture, including data models, simulation loops, solver strategies, and engine integration points.
  • Design and implement collision detection, entity controllers, vehicle and orbital dynamics, particle and fluid systems, and physics-driven gameplay and animation interactions.
  • Design, implement, and optimize real-time rendering pipelines, shaders, graphics API integrations, lighting, post-processing, and material systems.
  • Profile and optimize frame time, memory, multithreading, job systems, SIMD, and GPU compute across platforms.
  • Establish physics test suites, golden scenarios, verification and validation practices, and regression and crash-triage processes.
  • Build debugging tools, visualizers, probes, authoring pipelines, and workflows for designers, technical artists, and QA.
  • Lead cross-functional technical efforts and communicate engine constraints, trade-offs, milestones, and technical decisions to teams and leadership.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code reviews, write design documentation, and enforce coding and engineering standards.
  • Support post-launch content changes while maintaining simulation stability and performance.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Expertise in modern C++, data-oriented design, memory management, profiling, and debugging.
  • Experience with rigid-body dynamics, collision detection, integration schemes, constraint solvers, numerical stability, and real-time performance trade-offs.
  • Experience integrating physics with animation, gameplay systems, and rendering pipelines.
  • Experience with multithreading, job systems, SIMD/vectorization, cache-friendly data structures, and frame and memory budgeting.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary engineering efforts and communicate complex technical topics clearly.
  • Preferred experience includes 15+ years with modern game engines or middleware, including Unreal Engine, Unity, Havok, Bullet, PhysX, or custom engines.
  • Preferred experience includes advanced simulation, fracture systems, granular materials, vehicle tire models, buoyancy or aerodynamic effects, and GPU compute.
  • Preferred experience includes deterministic networking, rollback and prediction, server authority models, console shipping, platform certification, and physics tooling using Python, C#, or Lua.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
  • Attractive benefits package with medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • HSA health insurance options, 401(k), and basic and voluntary life insurance.
