Responsibilities
- Develop the robotics software ecosystem landscape and identify strategic gaps and opportunities across OS distributions, ROS2, middleware/DDS, simulation, tooling, OTA, and safety frameworks.
- Engage robot OEMs, ISVs, systems integrators, and open-source communities to influence architecture choices and adoption of Qualcomm’s robotics software stack.
- Shape upstream and open-source strategy, including ROS2 packages, documentation, and distribution.
- Serve as a senior technical interface for strategic robotics customers in China and capture architecture decisions and pain points across the software stack.
- Translate customer and partner insights into architecture briefs, reference blueprints, prioritized capability requests, and decision memos.
- Influence Robotics SDK, product, and engineering roadmaps with a solution-first perspective.
- Lead cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Product, Program, and BD/CE on solution architecture and ecosystem priorities.
- Define success criteria and measurable outcomes for ecosystem and architecture initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 8+ years of Software Engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master’s degree plus 7+ years or a PhD plus 6+ years.
- At least 4 years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Deep experience in robotics software architecture and systems integration across Linux/Ubuntu, ROS2, middleware/DDS, perception pipelines, and runtime performance.
- Proven customer-facing technical leadership with senior engineers and architects at OEMs and partners.
- Strong understanding of developer experience principles, including SDK packaging, documentation, samples, tooling, and ecosystem adoption.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for architecture briefs, executive presentations, and cross-functional stakeholder alignment.
- Preferred: hands-on simulation and performance/power profiling experience for robotics software stacks.
- Preferred: experience with open-source contributions or upstream engagement in robotics communities.
- Preferred: familiarity with hardware acceleration enablement and heterogeneous CPU/GPU/NPU/DSP integration.
