Responsibilities
- Develop new applications and fix bugs or expand features in existing applications.
- Design and develop backend, multi-layer, and cross-platform applications using software design principles and design patterns.
- Build and deliver solutions that meet stakeholder requirements and customer expectations.
- Design and review technical specifications and architecture.
- Design and implement RESTful API integrations.
- Develop communication protocols including OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP, and DNP3.
- Troubleshoot and debug software and perform manual unit, unit, and integration testing.
- Work on full-lifecycle projects with remote teams in a diverse environment.
Requirements
- Commercial experience with core Java and at least 3–4 years of overall experience, including at least 2 years in software development.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, Java containers, class loaders, data structures, streams, concurrency, and the JVM.
- Knowledge of SQL, client-side and server-side architectures, software design principles, and software development best practices.
- Familiarity with Ant, Maven, Microsoft development tools, WebSockets, and the Tomcat servlet engine.
- Experience with SQL Server, Apache Cassandra, PostgreSQL, JUnit testing, networking, and full-lifecycle software projects.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science, a related engineering discipline, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and basic knowledge of renewable assets including wind turbines, solar plants, and BESS.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and formal software development methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse remote teams and make timely decisions in uncertain situations.
