Responsibilities
- Evolve the Supabase Edge Runtime, managing the Deno isolate and enforcing resource limits.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and OpenTelemetry tracing for service optimization.
- Collaborate with Deno and open-source teams to relay user requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation to maintain Edge Functions in production.
- Manage and improve features like scheduled functions and WebSockets streaming.
- Integrate Edge Functions with Supabase services like Auth and Postgres.
- Expand functions to support diverse use cases such as AI inference and URL shorteners.
- Enhance the developer experience for local function development and debugging.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend or systems engineering experience.
- Strong fluency in Rust and TypeScript.
- Experience with V8 Isolates, Deno, and JavaScript runtimes.
- Experience operating infrastructure at scale, such as Kubernetes or AWS.
- A strong vision for edge computing and data distribution.
- Bonus: experience building developer-facing CLIs or front-end tooling.
