Responsibilities
- Build and maintain platform services and internal tooling primarily in Python.
- Design scalable, well-typed services and internal APIs with clear contracts and documentation.
- Create high-performance data-processing paths for analytics and ingestion workloads.
- Deploy and operate Python services on GCP using serverless and managed platforms.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing practices, and developer experience across the platform.
- Partner with product engineers, data engineers, and leadership to shape platform direction.
- Write ADRs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and standards-setting.
- Build or integrate AI agent frameworks and LLM orchestration tools for platform automation.
Requirements
- Deep Python 3.13+ proficiency, including type annotations, async/await, and modern language features.
- Experience with uv or similar dependency-management and virtual-environment tools.
- Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, clean architecture, and scalable software design.
- Experience designing internal REST or gRPC APIs with OpenAPI specifications.
- Experience with polars, PyArrow, or Apache Iceberg for large-scale data processing.
- Experience connecting Python applications to Snowflake or Databricks.
- Experience deploying and managing services on GCP, including Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Google Cloud Storage.
- Ability to design and maintain automated testing, linting, and cloud-deployment pipelines; GitHub Actions experience is preferred.
- Extensive pytest experience, including fixtures, parameterization, and mocking external services.
- Ability to mentor engineers through code reviews, ADRs, and architecture diagrams.
- Experience building or integrating AI agent frameworks and LLM orchestration tools.
- Competency with Bash scripting, Git, Docker, and Docker Compose.
- Familiarity with ruff and pyright for linting and strict static type checking.
