Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evolve core risk-engine components for intraday and overnight batch margin calculations.
- Translate quantitative model and analytic requirements into production-grade system behavior.
- Provide technical leadership for risk-calculation orchestration and integration of market, trade, reference, and model-parameter data.
- Own business-requirement delivery across development, testing, and controlled production release.
- Improve platform performance, scalability, determinism, resilience, recovery, auditability, and failure handling.
- Drive incremental and architectural evolution of the risk platform while maintaining delivery quality and maintainability.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams on end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in third-line support, including an out-of-hours rota when required.
Requirements
- Strong server-side Java engineering experience, with Java 11 or later and Java 17 preferred, using Spring or Spring Boot.
- Ability to understand quantitative models and make informed implementation trade-offs when integrating them into production systems.
- Practical experience contributing to or shaping risk-engine architecture for computationally intensive models at scale.
- Strong understanding of performance, scalability, resilience, recovery, auditability, controls, and operational readiness.
- Experience working in regulated or controlled environments with disciplined SDLC and production-change processes.
- Clear communication and the ability to influence technical decisions through expertise and collaboration.
- Preferred experience with C++ or other native analytics libraries, derivatives—particularly credit derivatives—cloud or hybrid environments, Terraform or Ansible, and enterprise monitoring and observability tools.
- Interest in appropriately using AI-assisted productivity tools such as Copilot-style tools in controlled environments.
