Responsibilities
- Assess platform performance and availability needs in partnership with solution architects, software engineers, and other teams.
- Help design new platform capabilities and run performance and availability tests.
- Troubleshoot performance problems, identify risks, and recommend and implement improvements.
- Proactively identify performance and availability challenges and ensure system capacity and availability exceed requirements.
- Help build an engineering practice that incorporates performance engineering earlier in the delivery lifecycle.
- Follow Mastercard security policies, protect information confidentiality and integrity, report suspected breaches, and complete required security training.
Requirements
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of application architecture and high-performance, highly scalable transaction processing systems.
- Experience solving complex performance and availability problems.
- Broad technical experience with Java, gRPC, performance tools, Linux, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience with LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, Dynatrace, software profilers, and Splunk.
- Deep understanding of JVM internals, garbage collection, threading models, and memory management.
- Experience with capacity modeling and planning processes and tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including communication with audiences at all organizational levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
