Base Salary
$114k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve News platform services primarily in Java and Python for low-latency, high-throughput real-time news delivery.
- Collaborate in a scrum team to craft solutions and deliver new features.
- Own the design and delivery of critical services from architecture decisions through production support.
- Influence technical direction and lead a scrum team as an individual contributor.
- Improve performance, observability, reliability, and developer experience in a cloud-native environment.
- Automate deployment, upgrades, and maintenance using modern DevOps techniques.
- Participate in a sustainable on-call rotation focused on automation and preventing repeat incidents.
Requirements
- Solid experience with Java and Python on Linux and real-time systems.
- Practical experience using IP-based protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and HTTPS.
- Familiarity with unit testing and test-driven development.
- Understanding of search technology such as Elasticsearch.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and communicate clearly.
- Bonus qualifications include GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Copilot, NewsMLG2 or similar standards, and experience implementing standard formats at speed.
