Senior Software Engineer, Fan Engagement
Genius SportsResponsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex features and systems with measurable impact.
- Own system architecture and make technical decisions balancing scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Drive execution across multiple sprints and workstreams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to shape scope, requirements, and user outcomes.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish and promote practices for code quality, testing, observability, and system reliability.
- Mentor and guide engineers through technical challenges, design discussions, and career growth.
- Lead technical discussions and improve team processes, tooling, and development practices.
Requirements
- Experience designing and delivering production systems in a professional or comparable environment.
- Strong proficiency with the Java Virtual Machine (JVM).
- Experience owning system design and contributing to architectural decisions, with strong knowledge of scalability, performance, and reliability principles.
- Proven ability to lead technical execution from concept through delivery.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver user-focused outcomes.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team development practices.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Kotlin or Spring experience is a bonus.
- Cloud systems experience, particularly AWS or Kubernetes, is preferred.
- Experience leading multi-sprint or cross-team initiatives is preferred.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale architectures is preferred.
- Experience defining or improving engineering standards, tooling, or processes is preferred.
- Experience influencing product direction through technical insight is preferred.
