Responsibilities
- Make data-driven and experience-driven decisions about the current and next generation of the production platform and deliver the results.
- Own and build systems for testing, building, and deploying code in a high-scale PaaS environment.
- Collaborate across the company on production system design, standards, technology choices, and product integration.
- Deliver platform changes predictably, safely, and reliably in a continuously operating environment.
- Help build the company’s Platform and Reliability practice on a small, growing team.
- Participate in platform decision-making and determine how the platform should evolve.
- Participate in incident management and establish sensible operational practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes.
- Participate periodically in on-call rotations for owned services.
Requirements
- Strong experience designing and implementing non-abstract systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Golang and in-depth Kubernetes experience, with CKA or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience with observability principles and technologies, including defining and tracking SLIs and SLOs.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for reliability and operational excellence, with a focus on reducing toil.
- Ability to estimate work accurately, coordinate with stakeholders, address risks, and deliver projects successfully.
- Experience with software development practices including code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging.
- Proactive ownership and accountability in identifying and addressing issues.
- Bonus: experience with SaaS or PaaS products across multiple cloud providers.
- Bonus: experience with CircleCI, Chronosphere, Prometheus, Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, and GitHub Actions.
- Bonus: experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure, particularly Azure.
- Bonus: Apache Airflow experience and participation in an on-call rotation.
