Responsibilities
- Design and expand Akuna’s data platform across streaming, operational, and research workflows.
- Build and deploy batch and streaming pipelines to collect and transform large-scale data within a hybrid cloud architecture.
- Collaborate with Trading, Quant, Technology, and Business Operations teams to identify data needs and deliver high-impact projects.
- Produce clean, well-tested, documented code for mission-critical applications.
- Build automated data validation test suites covering data quality, availability, and correctness SLAs.
- Mentor junior engineers in software and data engineering best practices.
- Help improve the organization’s technology stack and data engineering capabilities.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or an equivalent technical field.
- At least five years of professional experience developing software applications.
- Java or Scala experience is required; Python experience is a significant plus.
- Hands-on experience with data platforms and technologies such as Delta Lake, Spark, Kubernetes, Kafka, ClickHouse, and/or Presto/Trino.
- Experience building large-scale batch and streaming pipelines with strict SLA and data quality requirements.
- Recent hands-on experience with AWS cloud development, deployment, and monitoring.
- Experience working with diverse datasets and frameworks across multiple domains; financial data experience is a strong plus.
- Experience working on an Agile team using software engineering best practices such as GitOps and CI/CD.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, ownership, and responsiveness skills.
