Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and architectural vision for the APIs pillar across multiple squads.
- Design and develop complex, high-scale, distributed systems while writing production code and building proofs of concept.
- Guide teams in producing scalable, maintainable, secure, performant, and observable software.
- Mentor and coach Lead Engineers and squad engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and career development.
- Champion automated testing, deployment practices, SOLID principles, and consistent engineering standards.
- Improve system observability and performance using DataDog and related tools.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Senior Product Directors, Delivery Managers, and Engineering Managers.
- Support resilient infrastructure and deployments using GitHub Actions, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS.
- Explore and promote AI-driven development and the use of AI in engineering processes.
Requirements
- Principal-level experience leading the technical direction of a major engineering pillar and guiding multiple squads.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing large, distributed, data-driven cloud systems.
- Experience running an engineering team or squad and mentoring engineers at all levels.
- Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React, JavaScript, AWS, Kubernetes, and GraphQL.
- Critical knowledge of Kafka and familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
- Experience with AWS services including EKS, Lambda, and Aurora RDS, and with containerized applications.
- Familiarity with Jest and Pact and strong experience with automated testing practices.
- Experience deploying production systems using Terraform and Helm, with GitHub Actions as a deployment platform.
- Experience with DataDog or similar observability tooling and with systems handling high throughput.
- Ability to write high-quality maintainable code, make pragmatic architectural decisions, and guide teams through complex technical problems.
