Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, enhancement, and modernization of Visa’s transaction processing software.
- Build scalable, secure, resilient systems for high-volume payment flows, event-driven processing, and real-time data movement.
- Set technical direction and influence architecture, platform reliability, scalability, security, observability, and reusability across teams.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, conduct design and code reviews, and solve complex cross-domain engineering challenges.
- Implement automation across development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Use production telemetry and operational analysis to improve architecture, code, processes, and platform reliability.
- Support release readiness, on-call rotations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor senior engineers, develop technical talent, and promote reusable frameworks, documentation, and engineering best practices.
- Drive adoption of cloud-native development, event-driven architecture, secure integration patterns, and AI-enabled engineering workflows.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with an advanced degree, 4 years with a PhD, or 13 years of relevant experience without the stated degree paths.
- Preferred qualifications include 12+ years with a bachelor’s degree, 8–10 years with an advanced degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
- 15+ years of progressive technical leadership experience and a record of organization-wide technical impact.
- Deep expertise designing and scaling mission-critical distributed systems and solving complex problems across technical domains.
- Expert proficiency in modern programming languages, system design, AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, and distributed architecture.
- Deep experience with event-driven systems, Kafka, high-throughput data processing, payment processing, and transaction lifecycles.
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, encryption, IAM, SFTP, batch processing, and AI/ML production systems.
- Knowledge of payment capture, event enrichment, event correlation, transaction matching, retry mechanisms, dead-letter queues, event replay, and exactly-once processing.
- Experience with Avro, Protobuf, JSON, PCI-DSS, SOX, financial-services compliance, and payment network protocols.
- Recognized expertise through publications, speaking engagements, or patents and experience influencing executive technical strategy.
