Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time fraud decisioning services and APIs in Python or Kotlin for markets beyond the US.
- Build platform and tooling that make launching fraud decisioning in new countries repeatable and low-friction.
- Integrate regional fraud and risk vendors and help operationalize machine learning and AI signals for real-time decisioning.
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with Product, Machine Learning, Analytics, Fraud Strategy, Compliance, and Fraud Operations stakeholders.
- Create and monitor system metrics, escalate issues, and contribute to operational, maintenance, and on-call efforts.
- Improve code review and design standards, mentor teammates, and promote a culture of quality and ownership.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience building backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
- Experience with distributed systems and infrastructure using AWS, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
- Strong system design skills and a track record of delivering maintainable and extensible services.
- Fluency with AI-driven engineering, including directing, reviewing, and taking ownership of AI-assisted code.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working in data-rich environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and safe production deployments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for distributed-team collaboration.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, or Chronosphere is preferred.
- Background in fraud prevention, risk systems, or real-time decisioning is preferred.
- Experience building for multiple markets or regions, including internationalization or localization, is preferred.
- Experience in fintech or other highly regulated environments and understanding of risk, compliance, and operational constraints is preferred.
