Responsibilities
- Build and maintain internal tooling that embeds AI into coding, testing, deployments, and defect triage.
- Develop observability for AI-assisted engineering pipelines, including what tooling detects, handles, and misses.
- Identify manual coding, testing, and release activities that can be automated and build workflows to run them with minimal intervention.
- Integrate and safely roll out LLM-based developer tools such as Claude Code with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab.
- Bring AI into testing through exploratory test generation, defect clustering, flaky-test detection, and test prioritization.
- Help define responsible AI standards for software development, including data handling, prompt hygiene, and production-data guardrails.
- Mentor less experienced engineers on effective use of AI tooling.
- Work with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory and data-handling requirements.
- Track and improve AI tooling metrics such as cycle time, defect escape rate, test coverage, and delivery turnaround.
- Own software from design through deployment and production support while contributing to continuous delivery and engineering practice improvements.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a software engineer with strong technical judgment on production systems.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java or a comparable backend service ecosystem.
- Strong fluency in test-driven development and pair programming.
- Demonstrated experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting features or systems in production.
- A strong interest in aggressive automation and removing manual engineering steps.
- Some experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools in a real engineering environment.
- Preferred experience with MCP, agentic tooling, or Spec Driven Development.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira and Confluence, and its APIs.
- Prior experience in financial services, trading platforms, regulated environments, or other high-reliability systems is preferred.
