Responsibilities
- Design and build Golang backend services integrating with payment processors, gateways, and card networks.
- Own authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, and chargeback or dispute workflows end to end.
- Build idempotent, fault-tolerant, auditable transaction processing using distributed-architecture patterns and queues.
- Operate within PCI DSS scope, including tokenization, network tokens, secure payment-data handling, and 3DS/SCA flows.
- Instrument and monitor authorization and decline rates, processor performance, latency, and settlement accuracy.
- Use Claude or equivalent LLM tools for design, coding, research, testing, and documentation in accordance with security and data-handling policies.
- Mentor engineers, unblock peers, raise engineering standards, and occasionally lead small project teams.
- Deliver commercial APIs and web applications while prioritizing improvements based on stakeholder and customer feedback.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, including meaningful experience with payments, fintech, or money-movement systems.
- Strong Go experience preferred, or comparable Python experience, building and serving APIs.
- Hands-on experience integrating payment processors, gateways, or acquiring systems and understanding authorization, settlement, tokenization, idempotency, reconciliation, and chargebacks or disputes.
- Experience with distributed, cloud-based architectures using transactional outboxes or queuing tools such as Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of Claude or an equivalent LLM to improve productivity, research, communication, and engineering output.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with SQL-based relational databases through an ORM.
- Experience with Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, or comparable observability platforms.
- DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Familiarity with containerized microservice architectures deployed with Kubernetes on AWS.
- Preferred experience with acquiring ecosystems and providers such as Adyen, Stripe, Marqeta, and Fiserv.
- Preferred exposure to PCI DSS, 3DS/SCA, network tokenization, and payments compliance.
