Base Salary

$141k - $282k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-level motion planning logic for lane changes, merges, yields, and interactions with other agents.
  • Develop and optimize motion planning algorithms integrating geometric path reasoning and velocity reasoning into cohesive trajectories.
  • Architect and enhance systems for generating geometrically feasible and compliant paths.
  • Architect and refine systems for generating context-aware, comfortable, and safe velocity profiles.
  • Model complex driving scenarios and agent interactions for the behavioral planner’s world model.
  • Design trajectory-ranking costs that balance ETA, comfort, and safety.
  • Analyze, test, debug, and investigate root causes of system performance issues across varied scenarios.
  • Collaborate with Prediction, Perception, and Control teams to connect environmental understanding with physical vehicle motion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or automotive software development.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ for complex, real-time algorithms.
  • Understanding of robotics fundamentals, decision-making, motion planning, control theory, trajectory ranking, search, and optimization algorithms.
  • Experience with motion planning, trajectory optimization, world environment reasoning, trajectory ranking, or cost design.
  • Preferred: PhD or internship experience related to robotics planning system design.
  • Preferred: knowledge of vehicle dynamics and longitudinal and lateral control systems.
  • Preferred: understanding of machine learning principles, reinforcement learning, and related algorithms.
