Responsibilities
- Design and build cloud and systems monitoring infrastructure for globally distributed Apple services.
- Champion the availability, performance, scaling, and efficiency of customer-facing production services.
- Operate and improve observability capabilities that analyze billions of metrics per minute.
- Deploy and operate user-facing applications using container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Automate manual operations and improve systems through repeated iteration.
- Participate in incident response, incident management, and on-call support for large-scale distributed systems.
- Investigate complex systemic and latent reliability issues across engineering teams.
- Manage infrastructure across geographically dispersed data centers, including AliCloud regions serving mainland China and global markets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 10+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in an SRE or DevOps role supporting external production-grade web services, APIs, or SaaS applications.
- Production-grade software development experience in Python.
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating user-facing applications with strong container orchestration or equivalent Kubernetes experience.
- Solid experience using Terraform for infrastructure as code and version-controlled production environments.
- Experience or knowledge with the Prometheus ecosystem.
- Experience with incident response and incident management.
- Comfort with Helm, Pulumi, Terraform, and Spinnaker for configuration management and orchestration.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: Experience with cloud database persistence, backups, and failovers using RDS MySQL, PostgreSQL, or PolarDB.
- Preferred: Prior on-call experience supporting large-scale distributed systems and experience investigating cross-functional reliability issues.
- Exposure to Bash, Go, and Rust scripting is a plus; Pulumi experience is a plus.
