Responsibilities
- Design, plan, implement, tune, and maintain server and systems infrastructure for performance, availability, and reliability.
- Automate manual and common operational tasks using scripting, application development, and configuration management tools.
- Respond to production operations issues, perform root cause analysis, resolve problems, and propose technical solutions.
- Evaluate, test, and integrate operating system versions, drivers, patches, and new technologies.
- Support and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, configuration analysts, and end users.
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support in a 24/7 environment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience with Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat variants.
- At least 2 years of experience with Windows Server operating systems.
- At least 2 years of experience with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Tanzu.
- Experience deploying and supporting physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Experience coding with Python, Ruby, and/or Go for scripting and automation.
- Experience with automation and configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with source control tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and SVN.
- Knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, resilient application design and horizontal and vertical scaling.
- Strong analytics, problem-solving, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent Systems Engineering experience is desired.
- Familiarity with deployment automation and orchestration, preferably Jenkins, and experience packaging Windows software with Chocolatey are desired.
