Base Salary
$144k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy backend services and data pipelines supporting LLM, RAG, and agentic AI applications.
- Build high-performance APIs and microservices connecting AI models, scientific tools, and user-facing applications.
- Architect scalable pipelines for structured, unstructured, and vectorized data used in AI/ML workloads.
- Implement and optimize SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases for low-latency retrieval and inference.
- Use AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CloudFormation to build robust production AI platforms.
- Diagnose bottlenecks, optimize cost and performance, and ensure reliability and fault tolerance of AI-driven workflows.
- Collaborate with ML researchers, platform engineers, and scientists to productionize models and algorithms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional experience building and scaling production systems, including APIs, data pipelines, and distributed services.
- Strong Python skills and backend service development experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience integrating ML models or AI-driven workflows into production services.
- Proficiency with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain complex technical concepts to non-experts.
- Experience in life sciences, materials sciences, or other research-heavy fields is a bonus.
- Startup experience in fast-paced, iterative environments is a bonus.
