Responsibilities
- Design, optimize, document, and implement operational support for the Snowflake cloud data platform.
- Automate Snowflake production deployments, account and database administration, and access-role management.
- Implement Snowflake security standards, including encryption, decryption, masking, auditing, and protection of PII and PCI data.
- Implement cross-cloud and cross-region data sharing and replication for internal and external clients.
- Develop Snowflake utilization and capacity plans and optimize database and query performance.
- Analyze Snowflake user and query logs and implement monitoring, dashboards, escalations, and alerts.
- Administer Snowflake on AWS, including configuration, data migration, and security.
- Identify system bottlenecks and recommend solutions for high-availability production systems.
Requirements
- Technical expertise in all aspects of Snowflake, including external functions and administration in AWS.
- Experience securing sensitive PII and PCI data in Snowflake.
- Experience with AWS CLI, networking, and public-cloud security controls.
- Knowledge of SAML, SCIM, OAuth, OpenID, Kerberos, policies, and entitlements.
- Experience architecting and maintaining high-availability production systems.
- Experience developing monitoring architectures and implementing monitoring agents, dashboards, escalations, and alerts.
- Proficiency in index design, query-plan optimization, and query analysis.
- Hands-on experience administering relational databases, data warehouses, and data marts.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS alerting and monitoring tools.
- Strong development skills in Python or another scripting language.
- Experience with Agile and DevOps concepts.
- AWS or Snowflake certification is a bonus.
