Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical point of contact for embedded software design, co-design, brand labeling, suppliers, and program teams.
- Guide the technical direction of embedded software solutions against system constraints and performance requirements.
- Drive technical decisions, risk management, design feasibility, security, technical effort estimation, user stories, and technical debt planning.
- Lead technical activities from prioritized backlogs and oversee product verification across testing stages.
- Research issues and develop innovative solutions for complex embedded software challenges.
- Represent the R&D team as a point of contact for offers and collaborate with global teams across China, North America, Europe, and India.
- Follow Schneider Electric’s design process and deliver high-quality design documents on time.
- Coach and mentor junior team members and new hires.
- Apply design-to-cost thinking to create cost-competitive solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in STEM.
- More than 7 years of embedded product design experience.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Project Design Leader or Technical Lead.
- Experience with Modbus, BACnet, or other communication protocols.
- Experience with RTOS, Linux, VxWorks, or Zephyr.
- Experience with bootloaders, U-Boot, or other OTA mechanisms.
- Experience with Zigbee, Bluetooth, LoRa, and other wireless technologies.
- Experience with I2C, UART, SPI, MQTT, and widely used embedded systems protocols.
- Experience with cybersecurity, Safe Zone, and cryptography.
- Experience with thermostats and HVAC, lighting, building management systems, or OEM/ODM and brand-label contract manufacturing is prioritized.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE, ISO, UL, and CE certification and regulations is desirable.
- Embedded AI experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, coaching, teamwork, leadership, and self-motivation skills.
- Proven ability to work with teams in multiple geographies.
- For the Shanghai-based role, Mandarin Chinese and English are required; French is a plus.
