Base Salary

$171k - $273k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-domain system and product-level technical leadership for SSD firmware architecture.
  • Drive architectural requirements, feature assessments, and high-level architecture scoping for customer requests.
  • Lead, develop, review, and document product source code in C/C++.
  • Analyze, architect, and develop firmware to internal and external customer specifications.
  • Perform unit and system-level testing, failure analysis, debugging, development, and validation.
  • Develop low-level firmware, system architectures, operating systems, and device architectures with hardware and ASIC design teams.
  • Coordinate firmware disciplines, engineering stakeholders, priorities, activities, and committed milestones.
  • Translate product requirements into development and validation plans with project stakeholders.
  • Establish firmware architecture, coding standards, development processes, and technical direction across engineering teams.
  • Engage strategic customers, evaluate storage technologies, and drive firmware technology roadmaps.
  • Mentor senior engineers and serve as a technical authority across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of software or firmware development experience in embedded systems, including programming in C/C++.
  • 8+ years of experience in SSD firmware architecture or NAND flash storage systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across ASIC, hardware, firmware, validation, product engineering, manufacturing, development, and cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in SSD firmware technologies including FTL, QoS, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad block management, ECC/error recovery, power-loss protection, and NAND flash management.
  • Preferred experience with enterprise storage interfaces and protocols including PCIe, NVMe, and NVMe-MI.
  • Preferred experience with SSD security technologies including TCG Opal, IEEE 1667, ESSC, AES, Secure Boot, and firmware authentication.
  • Preferred experience with controller ASIC and hardware architecture teams, emerging storage technologies, software development lifecycle, CI/CD, automated validation, and release management for embedded firmware.
  • Strong written, presentation, communication, influencing, multitasking, self-starting, and leadership skills.
