Responsibilities
- Build and ship iOS client features for WhatsApp Services with strong performance, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Own iOS client architecture for payments, commerce, and other money-centric services surfaces.
- Work with Swift, Objective-C, and the iOS SDK while partnering with server and platform teams on API design.
- Solve complex technical problems and identify technology that can address previously intractable challenges.
- Set technical direction across multiple teams and own architecture for a major product area.
- Lead organization-wide initiatives, resolve product and technical ambiguity, and drive multi-year roadmaps.
- Establish engineering standards and improve quality, craft, team effectiveness, and system impact.
- Mentor senior engineers and influence product, design, data science, operations, legal, compliance, and payments partners.
- Build services that meet reliability and regulatory requirements for the Brazilian market.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 12 years of relevant programming experience, or at least 8 years of experience with a PhD.
- Experience working across functions to drive solutions and using data analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback.
- Experience driving large cross-functional or industry-wide engineering efforts and planning multi-year roadmaps.
- Experience mentoring and influencing executive stakeholders across organizations.
- Preferred experience building complex iPhone or iPad applications with Objective-C, C++, Swift, the iOS SDK, and other frameworks.
- Preferred experience with multithreading, mobile memory management, high-cadence releases, Brazilian payments including Pix, and payment systems at scale.
- Preferred experience in monetization, payments, commerce, AI/ML products, zero-to-one organizations, global multi-market products, distributed teams, or messaging and mobile-first consumer products.
- Preferred experience integrating AI tools into workflows, implementing responsible AI practices, and developing skills in prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration.
