Base Salary
$160k - $350k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own critical system components by translating complex requirements into robust, scalable solutions for customer needs.
- Build and iterate on a high-scale document build system enabling constant-time indexing latency for any content regardless of data volume.
- Architect and implement performance optimizations to minimize latency and maximize throughput across millions of documents.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
- Deploy efficient systems and build software closely integrated with advanced infrastructure and system design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field, with strong coursework in data structures, algorithms, and software development preferred.
- 5+ years of software development experience at a venture-backed startup or top technology firm, focused on distributed systems and platform engineering.
- Proficiency building backend and distributed systems with Python, Java, or Go.
- Deep understanding of scalable system design, performance optimization, and resilience engineering.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Experience with one or more of Kafka, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
- Knowledge of workflow orchestration and execution platforms such as Airflow, Temporal, or Prefect.
- Experience enabling observability patterns and leading software development projects.
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Bonus experience with distributed systems using etcd or Apache ZooKeeper.
- Frequent use of AI development products such as Cursor or Claude Code is a bonus.
