Base Salary
$230k - $385k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to an in-house container orchestration platform designed to scale massive compute clusters beyond systems such as Kubernetes.
- Develop and maintain FastAPI and gRPC APIs for agent infrastructure used in training and production.
- Use Terraform to provision and evolve complex research and production infrastructure.
- Collaborate with research teams to establish and optimize systems for novel AI training runs and experimental applications.
- Build, maintain, and scale the production platform supporting OpenAI agents and agentic products.
- Optimize performance across globally distributed systems, virtualization environments, and containerized workloads.
Requirements
- Deep experience building large-scale machine learning infrastructure and reasoning about training bottlenecks and performance optimization.
- Experience rapidly building systems from 0-to-1 and scaling them to very large production workloads.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform.
- Deep technical expertise in virtualization and containerization technologies, such as Kata, Firecracker, gVisor, or Sysbox.
- Ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems involving infrastructure scalability, virtualization efficiency, and agentic capabilities.
- Experience working closely with researchers to build high-performance systems at massive scale.
