Responsibilities
- Implement features, user stories, and bug fixes under senior engineer guidance.
- Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic.
- Write documented, maintainable code following County standards and accessibility and security policies.
- Perform unit and integration testing, participate in code reviews, and follow test-driven development practices where applicable.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, demos, retrospectives, design reviews, and pair programming.
- Support version control, build, deployment, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with product, UX, QA, operations, infrastructure, data, help desk, support, and release teams.
- Communicate task status, estimates, technical challenges, blockers, and solutions to teammates and stakeholders.
- Contribute to usability, performance, maintainability, user experience, and delivery-process improvements.
- Support digital transformation and service modernization for County operations and residents.
Requirements
- Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Three years of work-related software development experience.
- Knowledge of one or more of JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
- Knowledge of Git, software testing practices, APIs, databases, frontend or backend frameworks, SQL, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
- Ability to learn new technologies, frameworks, libraries, and methodologies and work in an evolving technology environment.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, collaboration, adaptability, attention to detail, and quality focus.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or a similar cloud certification, and Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent Agile certification.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record required, including provision of a 10-year driving history and continued compliance with Dallas County requirements.
- Must pass and maintain eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check if placed in a position with access to criminal justice databases.
