Responsibilities

Implement well-defined software features, user stories, and bug fixes under senior engineer guidance.
Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic using County standards.
Write unit and integration tests and apply test-driven development practices where applicable.
Participate in code reviews, pair programming, design reviews, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
Support version control, build, deployment, and CI/CD processes.
Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve defects, and document troubleshooting steps and solutions.
Collaborate with product owners, designers, QA analysts, operations, infrastructure, data, help desk, and support teams.
Review technical specifications, clarify requirements, estimate tasks, identify edge cases, and communicate blockers and task status.
Create technical documentation, system flow diagrams, user documentation, and traceability records.
Follow accessibility guidelines, security policies, development standards, and quality practices.
Prepare user demos or product walkthroughs and contribute ideas for usability, performance, maintainability, and team-process improvements.

Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Three years of work-related software development experience.
Knowledge of one or more of JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
Knowledge of Git, software testing practices, APIs, databases, frontend or backend frameworks, SQL, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
Ability to solve problems, learn and apply new technologies, communicate effectively, work collaboratively, adapt to new frameworks and libraries, and deliver quality software.
Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or a similar cloud certification, and Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent Agile certification.
Valid Texas driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide a 10-year driving history.
Ability to pass and maintain a national fingerprint-based records check if required for access to criminal justice databases.

Standard office environment with occasional travel to County sites and industry conferences.
The position requires maintaining a valid Texas driver's license and good driving record.
Positions with access to criminal justice databases require pre-placement and ongoing eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check.
