Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of multiple complex projects for the next generation of insurance infrastructure.
- Own projects and problems end to end, from problem definition through delivery, with limited direction.
- Identify bottlenecks and build solutions that improve engineering velocity and business outcomes.
- Improve user experience, data models, scalability, operability, reliability, performance, and metrics across the stack.
- Iterate on existing features based on user feedback and maintain a high standard of quality.
- Mentor and coach other engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining production systems at scale.
- 5+ years of experience building distributed systems in Python or Go.
- Strong understanding of modern API development best practices and design.
- Familiarity with AWS, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment best practices.
- Demonstrated high agency, ownership, judgment, and ability to drive work to completion.
- Track record of focusing on reliability while maintaining engineering velocity, ideally including 0-to-1 work at a high-growth startup.
