Responsibilities
- Own and evolve backend services for Gen’s Financial Wellness products from design and implementation through production operations and observability.
- Design and review secure, versioned APIs and data contracts for internal, external, and provider integrations.
- Lead event-driven architectures and telemetry pipelines for offers, leads, financial events, and alerts using governed schemas.
- Drive reliability and performance through SLOs, capacity planning, multi-AZ resilience, performance and endurance testing, and incident response.
- Partner with Security, Privacy, and Legal to address PII, credit-reporting, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Own product-domain architecture, influence cross-team technical decisions, mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and shape the long-term backend roadmap.
Requirements
- Strong experience building and operating Java backend services in production at scale using Spring Boot or similar.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native AWS architectures, including ECS/EKS or Fargate, RDS/Aurora, VPC, load balancers, WAF, S3, and Secrets Manager.
- Strong relational database knowledge, including PostgreSQL or equivalent, plus experience with at least one NoSQL store such as DynamoDB or DocumentDB, including schema design and migrations.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming and messaging systems and event-driven system design.
- Track record of owning architecture for a product or domain, influencing cross-team decisions, and working with senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of secure software design, including authentication and authorization, least privilege, PII handling, auditing, and security/compliance reviews.
- Background in financial services, financial wellness, embedded finance, banking, credit products, identity, privacy-focused platforms, serverless systems, or AI platform integrations is preferred.
- Familiarity with observability platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, or Sumo Logic and with defining SLOs and alerts is preferred.
