Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design and evolve federated GraphQL schemas and server-driven UI contracts shared by iOS, Android, and web clients.
- Classify breaking schema changes, coordinate migrations, and keep generated client models synchronized.
- Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, RPC endpoints, SQL queries, and backend services.
- Build fast, accessible web applications and shared libraries with React and TypeScript.
- Partner with product and design teams to architect and ship customer-facing features.
- Configure monitoring and alerting in DataDog and use observability tools to diagnose production issues.
- Identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, production risks, and scalability improvements.
- Mentor teammates through code review, pairing, documentation, and technical design work.
- Write thorough tests and collaborate with QA on automated testing pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
- Own production releases, participate in on-call support, and use Claude Code in daily development.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for product surfaces used by iOS, Android, and web clients.
- Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, browser APIs, and UX skills.
- Strong foundations in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with production systems at scale, load testing, tracing, and diagnosing CPU and latency regressions.
- Experience with API development using Node, Bun, or another server framework such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, or Laravel.
- Experience building multi-client or white-label platforms with geo-based routing and per-brand configuration.
- Experience with Kubernetes and operating services in containers.
- Experience with Git, GitHub or similar tools, terminal workflows, and a development editor.
- Experience with Jest or Vitest and ExUnit, RSpec, or pytest.
- Clear technical writing, including specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documents.
- Preferred qualifications include Apollo Federation, Absinthe, Swift or Kotlin mobile development, hexagonal architecture, domain-driven design, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub, open-source contributions, startup experience, and sports or esports interest.
