
Manager - R&D Embedded System (Linux)
Schneider ElectricResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for real-time industrial and energy automation systems.
- Implement and integrate IEC 61850 protocols, including MMS, GOOSE, and SV.
- Develop and optimize applications on embedded Linux in user space and/or kernel space.
- Work on communication stacks and networking protocols including TCP/IP and UDP.
- Perform system integration, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Develop low-level drivers and middleware components as required.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and testing teams.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 61850, IEC 60870, and Modbus standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and test reports.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain coding standards.
Requirements
- Strong experience with C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience developing or integrating IEC 61850 protocol stacks.
- Proficiency in Linux development, including user space and/or kernel space.
- Experience with embedded systems debugging tools such as GDB and Wireshark.
- Understanding of networking concepts including Ethernet, TCP/IP, and VLAN.
- Knowledge of real-time systems and multi-threading.
- Experience with Make, CMake, Yocto, or Buildroot build systems.
- Preferred: experience with substation automation systems or the power systems domain.
- Preferred: familiarity with IEC 104, Modbus, or DNP3 protocols.
- Preferred: knowledge of cybersecurity in industrial communications.
- Preferred: exposure to FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
- Preferred: experience with Git or SVN version control.
- Preferred: understanding of SPI, UART, and I2C hardware interfaces.
