Responsibilities
- Instrument digital applications with OpenTelemetry APIs, SDKs, collectors, and auto-instrumentation agents to capture metrics, logs, and traces.
- Build and maintain operational dashboards, visualizations, alerts, and KPIs using Splunk/SPL or Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
- Analyze telemetry to identify performance trends, bottlenecks, latency issues, anomalies, and distributed-system behavior.
- Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis through distributed tracing and log correlation.
- Ensure telemetry quality, structure, governance, retention-policy compliance, and adherence to enterprise logging standards.
- Partner with engineers to monitor end-to-end user journeys across HTTP/S APIs, microservices, and messaging queues such as Kafka.
- Document telemetry configurations, dashboard designs, alert thresholds, and monitoring practices.
- Develop, test, implement, and maintain secure, stable, testable, and maintainable application code and related systems.
- Improve code quality, performance, unit testing, and build processing through CI/CD automation.
- Build and maintain project development schedules, coordinate dependencies, negotiate feature priorities, and improve team delivery processes.
- Assess technology and business risks and support compliance with applicable policies, laws, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, systems monitoring, application support, SRE, or a related technical role.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry or Global Cloud Observability frameworks, including tracing, metrics, and logs.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Splunk or the ELK Stack, including queries, alerts, and dashboards.
- Experience with high-traffic, distributed, cloud-based services and infrastructure programs.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift and basic cloud infrastructure concepts.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to correlate logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose complex system behavior.
- Basic scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with SQL, Splunk Search Processing Language, and Elasticsearch Query DSL.
- Understanding of microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and Apache Kafka.
- Ability to read basic Java, Node.js, or Go code for telemetry instrumentation.
- Experience working with third-party service providers and cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
