Base Salary
$185k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the external API and embedded product layer with long-term stability, disciplined versioning, and enterprise-grade quality.
- Develop the agentic retrieval harness for patient and clinical search across structured and unstructured data with permission and audit guarantees.
- Build reusable platform primitives that allow external partners to embed and extend Counsel’s AI capabilities.
- Contribute to data models unifying structured health records, unstructured inputs, and high-frequency time-series signals.
- Support enterprise healthcare clients and AI-driven clinical workflows through correct and reliable distributed systems.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building production backend systems.
- Experience designing and maintaining external-facing APIs used by customers or partners.
- Strong data modeling skills, particularly for time-series or high-frequency data.
- Experience with distributed systems and multi-tenant architectures.
- Experience building comprehensive search or RAG systems at production scale.
- Experience scaling early systems from 1 to 10 in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to contribute to greenfield architecture while shipping pragmatically.
- Track record of maintaining and improving operational excellence across engineering organizations.
- Strong interest in API craftsmanship, long-term system design, and complex customer-facing systems.
