Base Salary
$122k - $146k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance object-oriented backend services.
- Develop public APIs using Java and internal gRPC APIs for inter-service and inter-system communication.
- Design and build agentic AI systems, autonomous workflows, multi-agent architectures, AI tools, and orchestration services.
- Integrate AI agents with enterprise systems and data sources using Model Context Protocol or similar protocols.
- Build and optimize LLM-powered services using tools such as OpenAI APIs and LangChain.
- Implement context management, memory, vector-based retrieval, evaluation frameworks, observability, safety controls, and guardrails for AI systems.
- Create automated unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
- Identify bottlenecks and technical debt, and implement improvements to scalability, stability, monitoring, healing, and application scaling.
- Lead system design decisions, cross-team projects, code reviews, technical alignment, and mentoring for junior and mid-level engineers.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, write root-cause analyses and operational documentation, and provide live-site support.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and implement new features.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem solving.
- Expertise designing and developing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability considerations.
- Proficiency in backend development with Java or C#, SpringBoot, API development, ODATA, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience building or contributing to AI- or LLM-powered applications or agent-based systems.
- Experience with agent frameworks, tool-use patterns, LLM workflow orchestration, and production scaling of AI workloads.
- Experience integrating AI systems with external tools or APIs using MCP or similar protocols.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector-based retrieval systems.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 8+ years of software engineering experience, Python, Java, event-driven architecture, Kafka, card payments, Docker, Kubernetes, API security, and PCI DSS compliance.
- Preferred AI experience includes production AI agents or copilots, multi-agent systems, distributed AI architectures, vector databases, AI evaluation, safety, and responsible AI practices.
