Base Salary
$122k - $146k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance object-oriented backend services.
- Develop public APIs with Java and internal gRPC APIs for inter-service communication.
- Design and build agentic AI systems, autonomous agents, multi-agent architectures, AI tools, and MCP integrations.
- Build and optimize LLM-powered services with orchestration, memory, tool use, prompt/context management, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Implement AI evaluation frameworks, observability, safety guardrails, and production reliability and cost controls.
- Write unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
- Identify bottlenecks and technical debt and implement scalability, stability, monitoring, healing, and deployment improvements.
- Lead system design decisions, conduct technology analyses, review code, mentor engineers, and drive engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, author root-cause analyses, provide live-site support, and improve application reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers; maintain technical documentation; and lead cross-team projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem solving.
- Expertise designing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability considerations.
- Proficiency in backend development with Java or C#, SpringBoot, API development, ODATA, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-powered applications or agent-based systems.
- Familiarity with agent frameworks, tool-use patterns, LLM workflow orchestration, prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector retrieval.
- Experience integrating AI systems with external tools or APIs using MCP or similar protocols.
- Experience designing systems that scale AI workloads in production.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 8+ years of software engineering experience, Python, Kafka, event-driven architecture, card payments, Docker, Kubernetes, API security, and PCI DSS compliance.
- Preferred AI experience includes production AI agents or copilots, multi-agent systems, distributed AI architectures, vector databases, evaluation techniques, safety practices, and responsible AI.
