Responsibilities

Implement well-defined software features, user stories, bug fixes, and enhancements under senior engineer guidance.
Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic using County standards for secure, accessible, maintainable code.
Perform unit and integration testing, participate in peer code reviews, and apply test-driven development practices where applicable.
Support version control, build, deployment, continuous integration, and continuous deployment processes.
Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve assigned defects, and document solutions and development changes.
Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, backlog refinement, estimation, and design reviews.
Collaborate with product owners, designers, QA analysts, operations, infrastructure, data, support, and release teams.
Contribute to technical documentation, system flow diagrams, user demos, product walkthroughs, and end-user materials.
Communicate task status, estimates, technical challenges, blockers, and requirements clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
Follow County development standards, accessibility guidelines, security policies, and documentation traceability practices.

Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Three years of work-related software development experience.
Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
Knowledge of Git version control, software testing practices, APIs, databases, SQL, and frontend or backend frameworks.
Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, a similar cloud certification, or Certified Scrum Developer/equivalent Agile certification.
Ability to learn new technologies, frameworks, and libraries; solve problems analytically; communicate effectively; collaborate with teams; and deliver quality software.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record, with the ability to provide a 10-year driving history and remain compliant with Dallas County requirements.
Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check when required for access to criminal justice databases.

Standard office environment with occasional travel to County sites and industry conferences.
