Responsibilities
- Implement well-defined software features, user stories, enhancements, and bug fixes under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, backend logic, and documented code according to County standards.
- Perform unit and integration testing, participate in peer code reviews, and apply test-driven development practices where applicable.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, backlog refinement, estimation, design reviews, and pair programming.
- Support version control, build, deployment, and CI/CD processes while documenting changes and maintaining traceability.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve assigned defects, document solutions, and support user demos and product walkthroughs.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, QA analysts, operations, infrastructure, data, support, help desk, testing, and release teams.
- Follow accessibility guidelines, security policies, development standards, and documentation requirements.
- Communicate task status, estimates, technical challenges, blockers, and requirements clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
- Maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record, provide a 10-year driving history, and comply with applicable Dallas County requirements.
- Pass and maintain eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check if placed in a position with access to criminal justice databases.
Requirements
- Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Three years of work-related software development experience.
- Knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
- Knowledge of Git version control, software testing practices, APIs, databases, SQL, frontend and backend development concepts, and RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud and of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, collaboration, adaptability, attention to detail, and commitment to software quality.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record, with compliance with County driving and records requirements.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, a similar cloud certification, Certified Scrum Developer, or an equivalent Agile certification.
