Base Salary
$120k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve backend features across REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task-processing systems.
- Write scalable, performant, secure, and maintainable code that can be shared across platforms.
- Contribute product and backend-system improvements and help improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
- Practice test-driven development and debug production issues across services and stack levels.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve critical technical issues promptly and effectively.
- Apply OWASP Top 10 techniques and follow information-asset protection policies and procedures.
- Maintain awareness of data-handling best practices and report suspected security or policy violations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- A few years of experience building web applications.
- Experience or strong interest in developing applications with Node.js.
- Experience implementing highly available distributed systems and microservices.
- Experience building scalable backend APIs.
- Experience with relational databases, preferably Postgres.
- Understanding of monitoring and alerting platforms is a plus.
- Strong commitment to code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
- Attention to detail, passion for correctness, comfort learning new technologies, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
