Responsibilities

  • Translate product, service, and operational requirements into robust technical implementations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux platform software, including system services, device abstraction, IPC, lifecycle management, and modem and antenna subsystem boundaries.
  • Design and maintain local and remote terminal APIs for control, configuration, telemetry, event streams, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Implement modem and antenna control and monitoring paths, including command sequencing, state synchronization, error propagation, and timing constraints.
  • Build structured logging, metrics, event and fault reporting, diagnostic-data capture, and remote access capabilities for field and Tier-4 support.
  • Own secure and reliable field software updates, including image management, rollback, fail-safe behavior, integrity and authenticity verification, and recovery from interrupted updates.
  • Write unit and integration tests and build automation to keep the platform verifiable.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, delivery processes, and joint reviews with external engineering partners.
  • Assist with system validation, debugging, and troubleshooting across software, firmware, and hardware in laboratories and deployed terminals.
  • Contribute to board support packages, build systems, root filesystems, device drivers, kernel interfaces, boot, and resource partitioning on a system-on-chip shared with real-time functions.
  • Mentor engineers and promote software design, testability, and maintainability best practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders, partners, and customers to ensure the platform reflects operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including embedded or systems software on Linux.
  • Strong hands-on C++ experience with embedded systems and mission-critical applications.
  • Understanding of embedded systems, real-time constraints, concurrency, memory management, and software architecture.
  • Experience designing and maintaining stable APIs and service interfaces consumed by other teams or systems.
  • System-level Linux experience with init and service management, IPC, sockets and networking, filesystems, permissions, and embedded-target cross-compilation.
  • Proficiency with unit testing frameworks and methodologies and continuous integration on embedded targets.
  • Practical debugging experience across software and hardware boundaries, including core dumps, tracing, profiling, and instrumentation.
  • Eligibility under applicable European and United States export control regulations.
  • Fluent professional English.
  • Rust experience is a plus; willingness to learn Rust is expected.
  • Experience with satellite terminals, routers, set-top boxes, or other connected customer-premises equipment deployed at scale is desirable.
  • Experience with Yocto or Buildroot, board support packages, kernel and driver work is desirable.
  • Experience with secure boot, signed images, key management, field updates, remote management, and fleet-scale telemetry is desirable.
  • Familiarity with routing, tunnelling, quality of service, and IP behavior over variable satellite links is desirable.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, React, and responsive interface principles is desirable.
  • Experience accepting or qualifying software developed by another organization is desirable.

Benefits

  • Flexible schedules and hybrid work options are available.
  • The role is based in Paris, London, or Turin.
  • The position offers collaboration with global teams and external engineering partners in a satellite connectivity organization.
  • The company emphasizes inclusion and diversity, sustainability, and work-life balance.
