Responsibilities

Advise product and engineering teams on secure architecture, design decisions, remediation strategies, and risk-based trade-offs.
Lead architectural assessments, threat modeling, data-flow reviews, architecture reviews, and risk assessments.
Guide secure implementation of cloud-native services, client and mobile applications, IAM, encryption, storage, access control, data protection, and serverless patterns.
Evaluate third-party technologies, customer integrations, SSO or identity federation, data exchange, failure modes, dependency risks, and systemic weaknesses.
Create secure architectural reference patterns and contribute to security standards, threat-modeling methods, risk registers, metrics, and maturity indicators.
Partner with DevSecOps and cloud platform teams on secure development, infrastructure, runtime guardrails, resilience controls, and automated security tooling.
Mentor junior security engineers and developers and communicate security guidance to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Meaningful experience in security architecture, application security, or cloud security with ownership of architectural decisions and trade-offs.
Strong understanding of security risks in modern multi-tenant SaaS architectures, including APIs, microservices or event-driven patterns, identity, and data protection.
Experience leading threat modeling, architecture reviews, and risk assessments and translating findings into actionable guidance.
Depth in cloud security, with AWS preferred and comparable Azure or GCP experience valued.
Experience securing third-party and customer integrations at scale, including SSO or identity federation and data exchange.
Experience in K–12 or higher education ecosystems, such as SIS or classroom platforms, is a strong advantage.
Pragmatic, risk-based judgment; comfort with ambiguity; and ability to make decisions within established guardrails.
Ability to use AI tools and articulate their benefits, risks, and appropriate guardrails.
Strong collaboration, influence, mentoring, written, and verbal communication skills.
Authorization to work in the United States.

Fully remote position, with employees near College Board offices having the option to work hybrid on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
