Base Salary
$153k - $262k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead major cloud networking, routing, CDN, WAF, proxy, ingress, and edge infrastructure initiatives from design through implementation and delivery.
- Architect and evolve AWS CloudFront CDN and edge delivery strategies for performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
- Set direction for WAF and edge security controls addressing DDoS, bot, and application-layer threats.
- Own Envoy- and Contour-based ingress architecture and NGINX reverse-proxy and load-balancing services.
- Troubleshoot complex network incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code and automation for networking and routing configuration.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on networking and edge design across the Cloud Platform and Infrastructure organization.
- Identify and promote emerging networking and edge technologies while improving infrastructure quality, reliability, security, and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in software development or a related field.
- 5+ years operating distributed cloud network, routing, or edge infrastructure in a 24x7x365 Cloud Engineering, Network Engineering, DevOps, or SRE environment.
- 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
- Deep hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting global-scale cloud networking and edge infrastructure, preferably with AWS.
- Deep expertise with CDN and edge delivery, WAF, and edge security.
- Hands-on experience with Envoy, Contour, or similar ingress-controller or service-mesh technologies, and with NGINX or similar reverse-proxy and load-balancing technologies.
- Expert understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, TLS/SSL, BGP or routing protocols, and load-balancing algorithms.
- Hands-on programming and scripting experience with Python, Go, and Bash.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
