Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for EarnIn’s Identity & Trust platform.
- Lead complex, ambiguous initiatives across multiple services and teams from problem definition through implementation, rollout, and long-term operation.
- Design secure, resilient, highly available distributed systems and APIs using Kubernetes, Kafka, DynamoDB, MySQL, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Architect capabilities for authentication, authorization, KYC and identity verification, PII protection, secure document processing, identity federation, and user/entity deduplication.
- Establish reusable architecture patterns, technical standards, APIs, documentation, and platform primitives for product teams.
- Drive reliability, observability, SLOs, incident response, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and production readiness for critical Trust infrastructure.
- Lead responsible adoption of agentic and multi-agent workflows for engineering, testing, debugging, operations, and analysis with appropriate guardrails.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers and influence technical direction through architecture reviews, RFCs, design reviews, and hands-on technical leadership.
- Partner with Product, Security, Risk, Data Science, Design, Analytics, Infrastructure, Compliance, and executive stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with progression into Staff or Senior Staff-level technical leadership.
- Proven experience defining technical strategy and leading architecture and delivery across large-scale distributed systems, platform infrastructure, multiple teams, and organizational boundaries.
- Deep hands-on experience designing and operating secure, highly available distributed backend systems at scale.
- Strong expertise in identity, trust, security, privacy, or regulated-data systems, ideally across consumer and enterprise experiences.
- Deep knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, MFA, identity federation, and token management.
- Experience with Trust domains such as KYC/identity verification, fraud or risk systems, PII tokenization, data vaults, encryption, secure document processing, identity resolution, or user deduplication.
- Production experience with Okta, Auth0, Keycloak, or comparable internally developed identity infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in at least one of Java, C#, Go, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Deep experience with REST APIs, SQL or NoSQL data stores, Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms, Kubernetes, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with SLOs, observability, incident response, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and production reliability for critical systems.
- Hands-on experience building AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows, including orchestration, tool use, evaluation, security boundaries, and guardrails.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
- Exceptional architectural judgment, communication skills, and ability to mentor senior technical talent and create organizational leverage.
- Experience in FinTech, regulated industries, identity, fraud, privacy, security, or compliance-sensitive environments is strongly preferred.
