Base Salary
$165k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop safety-critical embedded software for industrial systems.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a small team while remaining hands-on in technical execution.
- Build low-level firmware in C, C++, and Rust for actuator control, sensor processing, and fault-tolerant logic.
- Design control architectures, state machines, and data acquisition systems for mission-critical hardware.
- Create automated build, test, and validation infrastructure and own software through deployment.
- Integrate firmware with hardware and troubleshoot electromechanical systems alongside cross-functional engineering teams.
- Perform safety analyses and validate deterministic control behavior under normal and fault conditions.
- Debug embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and laboratory instrumentation.
- Support integrated system testing, commissioning, and continuous improvement of production embedded software.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in a technical leadership position defining architecture, system design, and functional requirements.
- At least 1 year of experience managing a team.
- Experience defining system architecture and translating functional requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them to complex multidisciplinary systems.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Development experience in C, C++, Golang, Python, or Rust.
- Experience with embedded or low-level systems development.
- BS degree in computer science, engineering, math, or another STEM discipline.
- Preferred experience with control systems, actuators, or software interfacing directly with physical systems.
- Preferred experience with data acquisition, electrical hardware troubleshooting, PCBA bring-up, digital signal processing, and low-level communication protocol debugging.
- Preferred experience mentoring engineers, providing technical leadership, and taking complex systems from architecture through integration, validation, and deployment.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
